We have been there for breakfast and lunch and we loved our meals. Sitting outside next to the park, with the dog-friendly environment, make this a really special place to go to - a real treat every time.
Disgusting and dangerous. Stay away. I never write reviews, but this needs to be shared publicly because it is a health issue. I found live maggots inside a pie — embedded in the filling (pic and video attached). This doesn’t happen by accident. It means the food was left to rot and contaminated over several days. This is a serious health hazard and a shocking failure of basic hygiene standards. If this is what customers can see, I don’t even want to imagine what happens in the kitchen. I am not happy and will be reporting this to the authorities for health reasons. ⚠️ Do not eat here.
Great atmosphere and good service. Nice selection on the menu.. Don’t expect value for money though. Pricey and considering a fillet steak cost comes in at around R1187/kg one would expect that the mass matches the price tag. When queried or challenged the best the management staff could do was say that it’s purchased pre weighed. Could not even acknowledge my complaint. Offered me a 10% discount even though the product was probably 35 % under the advertised weight. Would I go back. Absolutely not. Been there many times and always have the same response Value for our hard earned miney. Zero out of 10.
Lovely place for any occasion. Whether you're having coffee for one, a feast with the family or sundowners with some mates, this restaurant has it all. I love the beautiful setting inside. There is also a sunny porch overlooking the parking area and a large veranda overlooking the park where the kids can play. The carrot cake is exceptional and the chocolate milkshakes are above average.
We had the pleasure of dining at Nice on Poplar, and from start to finish, it was an absolute treat. The warm, inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a relaxed meal, complemented by friendly and attentive service. For the main course, we enjoyed a beautifully presented chicken curry served with vegetables, coconut, chutney, chillies, and salsa over a bed of fluffy rice. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, with the perfect blend of spice, creaminess, and freshness. Each bite was a comforting explosion of taste. To round off the meal, we indulged in a chai latte and a reconstructed apple pie with ice cream. The chai latte was wonderfully spiced, offering a cozy, aromatic experience. The apple pie was a standout—beautifully deconstructed, combining crispy textures with warm, spiced apples and a creamy scoop of ice cream that tied everything together perfectly. Overall, Nice on Poplar exceeded expectations, delivering delicious food in a great setting. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a satisfying and memorable meal!
