We had a good time at Wild Waters in Boksburg, but there are definitely some things you should know before you go. The Good The staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit, which really made a difference. The kiddies pool was a huge hit and very enjoyable for the little ones. It is a solid spot for a family day out if you are looking for a safe place for the children to splash around. The Not So Good The biggest downside is that the main attractions are dependent on the crowd size. The waves only get switched on if there are 150 people or more, and the lazy river requires a minimum of 200 people to operate. This was a bit disappointing as we could not enjoy them for most of the day. Additionally, the big slides felt really slow, and the food at the venue is quite pricey for what you get. Overall It is a 4 star experience because of the great service and the kids area, but I would recommend going on a busier day if you actually want to experience the waves and the lazy river.
Lets start with the signage, its only found at the entrance, there are no maps, no info boards or arrows pointing you around where you can find which slide or what's on offer around the water park (these are basics). The mini golf course looks old & abandoned, non functional at all. Next problem is the "Life Guards", they wear NO name tags & prefer to stay dry out of the water. If you take a child there, make sure you watch over them yourself. Im an adult capable of swimming, but when i had an incident by the tubing slide, the tube flipped me over and was on top of my head, I couldn't get up, the gaurd was just standing there watching me, no help-NOTHING. I took in so much water that by the time I was able to get it off me, I started vomiting, he prompted me to throw my vomit over the barrier and get back in the tube/keep going. I got out & my knee was bleeding from hitting the bottom, i asked him why he didn't offer assistance, he said they trained them to stand by & watch to see if there is issues, I asked if nearly drowning doesn't seem like an issue? He said no, only when im nolonger moving, he'll come. Asked him for his name, he gave me the wrong one intentionally, he thought it will end there, but i went to report him in the front /entrance with the head life gaurd, they reprimanded him with a promise of a 2week suspension, I doubt that actually happend though. The incompetent life Guard (Xoli) was already on his 3rd warning for doing nonsense, how is he still there? Number3 is the food on offer, please bring your own food/picnic. Unless you planning on eating by the restaurant, the street vendor prices were ridiculous! I ordered a basic boerwors roll (R70) & it was made from a disgusting pink meat that was undercooked - definitely not from beef. Lastly, they chased us out & closed down before 4pm🥲way before closing time! Those who got there around 2 or 3 only spent an hour inside. There was no reason given. If you can, rather go to any other water park in Gauteng, unless you close to Boksburg & really feel like going the public pool experience!
The lady at accounts isn’t friendly. She responds without listening and doesn’t treat other staff well. I had to keep quiet for her to realise that she was just plain mean. She did try to apologise for the frustration citing that the other guy resigned which has completely left her in a state.. I don’t understand how that is my problem and how that gives her a right to provide a horrible service. The place has a restaurant, life guards and I applaud them for the first aiders. They are really prompt. Besides the thrill of slides, the place looks old and could use a thorough renovation. I wouldn’t come back here 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Wild waters is the best during none festive seasons. Less queue and you get to do all the activities
Had a great time at Wild waters aka Nicci beach, the stuff members are very friendly and welcoming, they care for their clients, when there are signs of lighting, they ask politely for the visitors to go out of the water. The rides are so wild and nice, they bring out the thrill out of you. We really had a great time. For those who would like to braid braai stands provided, food and refreshments for children and adults are sold, there are toilets to change, and plenty of space to sit, on the grass & there also sitting benches but the benches are not plenty. Great place to have your picnics Wild waters is kid friend, your children are always safe, when they go in water, life guards are at every corner, even on the rides for adults, there are there to assist if you cant swim. I surely had a great time, celebrating my baby sisters birthdays 🎂 I highly recommend people to come enjoy themselves at wild waters.
