The Wilds Nature Reserve is such a special spot. It’s one of those places where you can slow down a bit and just take everything in. There’s so much to see, and I loved that there are multiple paths to explore, so you can wander a little and make the experience your own. Everything is well looked after, and the signage is clear and easy to follow, which makes it feel safe and accessible without taking away from the natural beauty. It’s honestly just a beautiful experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back.
I had this spot on my wishlist for a while and just happened to take a detour today and park here. What a pleasure /treasure. Thanks to JAMES DELANEY who took it upon himself to bring this park back to life, we can now all enjoy this absolute gem. His artwork in the park, some in the most unexpected places, are bringing such a charm and identity to the surrounds that is unique. I hope this will never go to waste again. Thanks James!!!
Excellent gem in the city. Great for a day out. Very well maintained gardens with lots of picnic areas and shaded benches. Parking is a bit limited and the park does get busy on weekends. There's 2 routes, the hiking and walking. 2 hours is adequate to cover both trails. Excellent views from the hiking trail. Lots of uphills on both trails. Staff is friendly and the aspects of the park is explained on entry. Dogs on leashes are allowed and ample space for kids. Few ponds in the park that are clean.
It's a good reserve with a widd fields to sight see, and picnic. Many well maintained walk ways with good city, and nature views. Security is good, and entry is free after signing in
It is as beautiful as the reviews say! Wish I had come during jacaranda season. Absolutely love the stunning mosaics, and of course, Delaney's artworks. Barring one or two thoughtless clowns who littered at the Jock viewpoint (shame on them!) this is such a wholesome, charming place. The giraffe lawn is a splendid place for children to run about, and you see Joburg at its finest: not just our green spots, but our people too. Parking is scarce - we parked up St Patricks road next to St John's. It is a short walk from there to the gate, but no security. I will definitely be back with friends for a picnic, in this treasure in Jozi's crown.
