Fantastic place to visit if you want to see the beautiful animals and only have a short amount of time. It's close to Joburg and we'll worth a visit. You can self drive or go on a tour. They have a lovely restaurant and a great kiddies play area too. Going back again next week
Lion & Safari Park offers the opportunity to see wild animals from very close, which can be impressive, especially for children or for people discovering African wildlife for the first time. The enclosures are relatively large compared to traditional zoos, and the park is well maintained overall. However, it is important to know before visiting that the animals are still kept in enclosed spaces and that some lions are fed directly by humans, which may not match the expectations of visitors looking for a more natural safari experience. It can still be an interesting activity for families, but the experience feels quite different from observing animals in the wild.
The Lion and Safari Park was the perfect experience for us, especially given that my girlfriend has a real phobia of animals. This was a great way to ease into it without feeling overwhelmed. From the start, everything was well organized. Our driver picked us up and gave us an outstanding overview on the way, setting the tone for the day. Once we arrived, our guide took over and did an excellent job. Knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire experience comfortable and enjoyable. We were able to see a wide range of animals in a controlled, safe environment, which made all the difference. It gave us the opportunity to experience the wildlife without the intensity of a full safari. For me, it was a great introduction and definitely confirmed that I will be back for a full safari experience next time I’m in South Africa. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a well run, informative, and accessible wildlife experience.
At this park, you have the incredible opportunity to observe majestic lions at any time throughout the day, ensuring you won't miss a glimpse of the "king of the jungle." To maintain a safe and natural environment for all the inhabitants, the lion enclosure is strictly separated from the areas where the various herbivorous animals reside. A major highlight of the visit is the lion feeding event, which takes place in the central square around 12:00 PM. It is a thrilling spectacle and highly recommended for anyone who wants to see these powerful predators in action from a close yet safe distance. When it comes to exploring the grounds, you have the flexibility to choose your preferred mode of adventure: you can drive through the park in the comfort of your own private car, or you can hop on a specialized safari bus for a more guided and immersive experience.
Amazing place. I recommend going for a private tour if the pocket allows you. You get the best experience this way. I truly recommend Oswald as a guide: he is passionate about animals, hence your experience will be complete.
