The facility was fantastic! The manager was really helpful and knowledgeable when it came to asking about Discovery Vitality ! Staff were extremely helpful- the one lady in the kids section taught my 10 yr old daughter how to climb better so she could climb higher! My 2 sons enjoyed the adult area as it really was challenging for them and they never got bored! I will definitely be back here again!!

I joined this gym a few months ago and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. It’s a place where you can really gain your confidence as a new rock climber, or push yourself as a seasoned climber. I love the variety of amenities for climbing like the amount of top rope and lead rope courses and the amount of bouldering to be done and that it’s ever changing. The upstairs gym is wonderful if you’re looking to get conditioning in. Filled with normal gym equipment and also equipment to train to improve your climbing like hang boards, campus rungs and laddering, and so much more. It also boasts Pilates and yoga classes in an onsite studio which is also beneficial when not used for training one needs a studio for like dance warmups! The cafe that they have there is out of this world, with fresh food and baked goods every day, I always end up with dinner and a dessert after climbing and a monster before! The gear shop is awesome with an awesome members discount! Everyone there in the gym, the gear shop, the kitchen, etc are super friendly and helpful and there’s always at least one person who you can ask about anything and get a proper response! I 100% suggest this gym for anyone looking to climb or even for kids parties or joining the mountain club, you’ll never be left wanting!

I’ve started my climbing journey recently with my partner in this gym! There’re climbing area and gym area, staff are very friendly and helpful. All the climbers are very kind and nice people as well! Especially I love this gym’s atmosphere, very chill and safe, you can do just a cafe for relaxing. I just wish that they opened until late in weekends also, would be super awesome…

I genuinely can't tell whether the staff love or hate their jobs. Some looked like they were serving a prison sentence rather than working a shift. Extremely rude, very flat personalities, and overall just not welcoming. I came with my family and, unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. Price-wise, it's just not worth it. It's way too expensive for a family of three or four. Granted, there isn't much to do in Gauteng, but there are plenty of places that offer better value. It takes around 15 minutes before you're allowed to climb, which is understandable (probably because someone sued you guys). But please... rework the system. We're living in the age of AI, yet somehow it feels like I'm applying for a home loan just to climb a wall. I don't mind filling out forms I mind spending 15–20 minutes doing it. The whole process is painfully slow. While I'm handing over my personal information, I also have no idea where it's being stored, which, from a cybersecurity perspective, isn't exactly reassuring. You also can't have slow staff and slow administration. I don't mean "slow" as an insult, I mean the speed of the entire operation. Some staff members were so stationary I genuinely thought they were part of the décor. Now, credit where it's due. I met two staff members who were absolutely fantastic. Genuinely friendly, helpful, and professional. Those two deserve promotions. In fact, if I ever run into them again and they're looking for work, I'd happily hire them. People like that deserve to work somewhere they can grow. The climbing walls are great. The equipment is great. The safety procedures are solid. The bathrooms are clean. The food is also surprisingly good and reasonably priced. I loved that. Ordering it, however, was another story. The woman serving me was so rude she managed to make buying lunch feel like I'd inconvenienced her by existing. She was happily demolishing a doughnut while taking my order. I sincerely hope your staff get proper lunch breaks... although judging by the number of people standing around, I'd say some have already had three. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR FRIENDLY STAFF. To be clear, this wasn't everyone. Maybe I just visited on the wrong shift. I genuinely hope that's the case. What disappoints me most is that this place came highly recommended. The facilities deserve the praise. Unfortunately, parts of the customer service let the entire experience down. To the owner: your business has the foundations to be excellent. Go back to the drawing board, rethink a few systems, and make the customer experience match the quality of the facilities. I took the time to write something this detailed because I think it's worth fixing. If you ever want to talk solutions, I'd be more than happy to help. PLEASE FIX YOUR GOOD BUSINESS.

Although not quite as spacious as the Cape Town branch, this CityRock shares the same spirit, with friendly staff and great facilities. My mid-day visit included a quick tour to locate key points of interest, like the loo and auto-belay routes. It was great to test skills on brand new routes.
